When Can I Row?

The information below must be read in conjunction with the safety information determining under what conditions rowing is permitted – click here to view.

With a large membership, in common with all clubs we don’t have enough boats for everyone to row at the same time and so it is necesarry to allocate session times and boats to each group within the club.

If you would like to use a boat outside these times then please contact the squad coordinator to make sure the boat is available. Please don’t simply arrive and take a boat without checking first.

Only club members who have passed the “Steersman Test” may take out a single, double or quad/four unsupervised. Once you feel you are ready to take the test please contact Diane for a quick assessment. Please do not be offended if we have to tell you that we do not feel you are ready to go out on the river alone. We are only being mindful of your safety and that of other river users.

You can become a full steersman which will let you boat to Hampton Court or you may become a part steersman which will alllow you to go out by yourself between the Railway Bridge and Teddington Lock.
